Absolutely. The GIVEN Institute encourages accepted participants to seek support from friends, family, parish members, and others so that they can attend the Forum and bring their gifts back to their local community. Many GIVEN Forum participants have also asked their workplace or diocese to sponsor their attendance.
Yes, a limited number of scholarships are available for participants in need of assistance. Applicants will have the opportunity to request a scholarship while completing the application.
Through the generosity of benefactors and philanthropic foundations, the GIVEN Institute has been able to subsidize the cost of the leadership Forum and ongoing programming. Participant contribution to the Forum includes a registration fee of $700 and the cost of travel. Your registration fee includes food and lodging as well as Forum programming and dedicated one-on-one mentorship from August-May following the Forum in late spring 2026.
Yes! Past participants have come from many countries, including Canada, Ireland, Mexico, Singapore and the Philippines. International applicants should note that they will be responsible for traveling to the Forum and coordinating any needed documentation.
“There were so many examples of women in the Church living vibrantly through different vocations. As a single woman with a career in business, being present at GIVEN opened my eyes to see that God can do anything with your ‘Yes’ if you give it to Him.”
“I had been discerning a vocation to the religious life for a few years before attending GIVEN, and although not expecting it at all, it was at GIVEN that God clearly called me to Himself. I went to the forum simply looking for leadership skills and networking opportunities with other Catholic women, and I left joyfully accepting God’s call to be totally His. I am now applying to a religious order!”
“GIVEN helped me to reexamine what I always felt was a tension between the vocation of a wife and mother with professional aspirations. It helped me to understand better the many fruitful ways that women live out their vocations in an integrated way.”
The GIVEN Institute will welcome 100-200 young women leaders to participate in the Forum.
Yes, mothers are welcome to bring infants under 1 year to the Forum.
The GIVEN Institute welcomes young adult Catholic women to apply for the Catholic Young Women’s Leadership Forum between the ages of 21 and 35, who have significant leadership experience or leadership potential, who are engaged in their Catholic faith, and who desire to cultivate their gifts to enrich the culture, the Church, and those in their care. Women enrolled in OCIA programs may also apply.
The next GIVEN Forum will be in late spring 2026. Follow us on social media and subscribe to our mailing list for the latest Forum updates, including the date, location and application deadline.
The GIVEN Forum is a one-of-a-kind, multi-day event that provides leadership training, faith formation, and networking opportunities to emerging Catholic female leaders. It is designed to help young adult Catholic women with a heart for mission and an aptitude for leadership identify their particular gifts and find practical pathways to put them in the service of the Gospel.
Yes! Many mentors return to the Forum or continue serving in subsequent cohorts of the Art of Accompaniment Mentoring Program. There are also opportunities to support GIVEN alumnae in our network, serve as Action Plan Strategists for new participants, or offer skills-based assistance in other areas.
No. Because mentoring is primarily virtual, women from across the United States (and beyond) can serve as GIVEN Mentors. However, whenever possible, preference is given to pairing mentors and mentees from similar locations to allow for potential in-person connection.
The most important qualification for a GIVEN Mentor is a willingness to accompany and encourage young women in their unique call from God. Professional experience and vocational maturity matter, but the heart of mentoring is sharing your lived wisdom and faith.
After the Forum, mentees and mentors are prayerfully matched based on professional expertise, personal interests, and the skills most helpful for supporting the mentee in developing her Action Plan.
Mentors are not alone in their service. GIVEN staff provide ongoing support, resources, and check-ins to ensure that mentors are equipped and encouraged throughout the year.
An Action Plan is a project developed by each young woman participating in our program to put her gifts in service of the Church and the world. Mentors walk alongside mentees by offering encouragement, accountability, and practical advice as they bring their plans to life.
Yes! Mentors receive training to help them walk with their mentees throughout their journey, unpack the Forum themes, and support the development of their Action Plans. These trainings are held virtually in the months leading to the Forum.
Our Mentor training and participation in the Leadership Forum are essential in order to walk with our young women as a Mentor. There may be other select mentoring opportunities outside of our Year of Accompaniment program, once a relationship has been established with GIVEN staff.
Lay Mentors cover the cost of their travel to the Leadership Forum. GIVEN finds sponsors for invited consecrated women religious to help cover their travel expenses. In addition, GIVEN covers food and lodging for all Mentors.
Mentors are required to participate in virtual preparatory training sessions leading up to the Forum and commit to a one-year relationship with up to two mentees. Mentors meet with each mentee at least once a month for a minimum of 30 minutes. In addition, mentors complete monthly check-ins, participate in quarterly virtual gatherings, and submit both a mid-year and final evaluation.
Absolutely! We have been blessed with the presence of many religious sisters who have spent a year accompanying young women in our program. To be considered as a Mentor, a religious sister must be fully professed or in temporary vows.
You must 36 years of age or older and have 8+ years of experience in your profession or vocation. Mentors must have a desire to journey with other women in their particular state in life, leading from her own experience and personal relationship with Jesus Christ and the Church.
After completing the GIVEN Leadership Program, participants are invited to remain connected through the GIVEN Institute Women’s Network. You can continue to grow in faith and leadership, support new cohorts, collaborate with fellow alumnae, and share your gifts to serve the Church and your community.
Yes! Past participants have come from many countries, including Canada, Ireland, Mexico, Singapore, and the Philippines. International applicants should note that they will be responsible for traveling to the Forum and coordinating any necessary documentation.
We encourage participants to seek support so they can fully engage in the program and bring their gifts back to their local communities. Participants can:
- Request support from their diocese, parish, friends, and family
- Explore workplace or diocesan sponsorship
- Share their vision for their Action Plan and participation to inspire potential supporters
Many past participants have successfully combined these approaches to cover program costs and at the same time building a network of encouragement and accountability.

An Action Plan is a personal initiative to activate your God-given gifts in service of the Church and the world. As a participant, you commit to creating and carrying out this initiative over the course of the program. GIVEN provides all the formation, guidance, and resources you need, including mentorship, structured check-ins, and access to the GIVEN Network, so you are fully supported as you bring your Action Plan to life.
Participants are required to fully engage in the year-long program, beginning with virtual preparatory formation sessions before the Forum. These sessions orient participants to GIVEN’s pillars, introduce them to their cohort, and provide initial tools for discerning their Action Plan. Following the Forum, participants journey through the program with ongoing support. They:
- Meet with their mentor at least once a month for a minimum of 30 minutes
- Participate in monthly check-ins and quarterly virtual gatherings
- Work with GIVEN Action Plan Strategists for additional guidance, accountability, and resources as they design and implement their plan
- Develop and carry out their Action Plan with the encouragement of both their mentor and GIVEN staff
- Submit both a mid-year and final evaluation

GIVEN offers the young women accepted to our Leadership Program formation, resources, and a supportive community to help them grow in faith, leadership, and mission. Through the love, guidance, and example of other sisters in Christ, each woman is strengthened and equipped to respond boldly and faithfully with the unique gifts God has entrusted to her. The two flagship elements of our Leadership Program are:
GIVEN Leadership Forum: A week-long experience of formation, prayer, and friendship with faithful Catholic women of all ages, vocations, and walks of life. An outstanding line-up of women leaders in the Church delivers keynote addresses, panel presentations, and guided prayer experiences rooted in GIVEN’s three core pillars. These experiences focus on the discovery of personal gifts and the practical wisdom to activate those gifts for mission. Daily Mass, Reconciliation, spiritual direction, and small group discussions foster fellowship and make this a truly transformational week.
Art of Accompaniment Mentoring Program: Following the Forum, participants are accompanied for a year by experienced Catholic women (ages 36+), trained by GIVEN to journey with them in faith. Mentors provide encouragement, guidance, and wisdom as each woman develops her personal Action Plan.
GIVEN is committed to hosting the 2022 Forum safely and in person. We will follow the regulations and policies of the Archdiocese of Philadelphia and Neumann University. Under current requirements, GIVEN plans to exercise the following safety measures at the Forum:
- Face coverings: Everyone attending the GIVEN Forum will be required to wear a mask over her nose and mouth at all times indoors.
- Daily health screening: Attendees and guests will be required to complete a daily health check and show the resulting clearance when entering a building.
- Additional safety measures for residential guests: For attendees staying in the dorms, guests who have received a COVID vaccination will be asked to provide proof of vaccination. Non-vaccinated guests will be asked to provide a negative antigen test completed within 24 hours of check-in or a negative PCR test within 3 days of check-in.
Please check back for updates as the situation evolves. Although we are taking necessary precautionary measures, our goal is to preserve the spirit of the Forum–a beautiful community of women leaders! We are looking forward to welcoming you to the Archdiocese of Philadelphia!
