Mary Devlin Capizzi
Mary Devlin Capizzi is a partner at Drinker, Biddle & Reath LLP. She is part of the firm’s Government and Regulatory Affairs Group and a member of the Pharmaceutical Consortia Management team. Prior to joining the firm, Mary served on the New York City-based legal team that represented the Bank Advisory Committees for Brazil and Mexico in connection with the restructuring of their sovereign external debt. Mary’s practice at Drinker Biddle involves providing counsel to individual corporations and consortia clients (collaborative initiatives comprised of industry, government and academia representatives) on a range of compliance matters involving regulatory, legislative, scientific and policy issues in the U.S., the EU and other countries around the world.
Mary has served as an Executive Partner with responsibility for managing the firm’s regulatory practices and overseeing the firm’s marketing and business development functions. She is currently serving her third term as one of 12 elected partners serving on Drinker Biddle’s Managing Partners Committee, which is the firm’s governing board.
Mary received her B.A. and M.B.A. from the University of Dallas in Irving, Texas, and her J.D. from Emory University School of Law in Atlanta, Georgia. She is a fluent Spanish speaker. Mary volunteers as a CYO cross country coach, serves as an alumni mentor for Emory University and the University of Dallas, and has led the parent organizations at her children’s middle schools and high schools. She is a member of Legatus, an organization for Catholic business leaders, and currently serves as a Member-at-Large of the Washington, D.C. Chapter. Mary is also a member of the John Carroll Society, a Board member of the Mercy Health Clinic, which serves uninsured, low-income adult residents of Montgomery County, Maryland, and a Board member of The GIVEN Institute, a not-for-profit organization dedicated to activating the gifts of young adult Catholic women. She enjoys photography, hiking, watching her children play sports and sing jazz, and making up children’s stories.
Mary lives in Chevy Chase, Maryland with her husband of 24 years, Joseph Capizzi. They are the parents of six children, Margaret Louisa (22), Anna-Sophia Thérèse (20), Gabriella Rose (17), Juliana Grace (15), Liliana Maria (12), and Peter Xavier (10), and are also responsible for the care and feeding of two energetic weimaraners, Atticus and Winston.
