It is impossible to anticipate all the ethical issues that one might encounter in the workplace.  Sister Michaela hopes to help you develop confidence and skills to think through the issues, access valuable resources, understand the interpersonal dynamics, and learn effective approaches to communication and dialogue with those of different perspectives. She will share some of her experience navigating ethical situations and conversations in her professional setting and her work in bioethics.

Sister Michaela Serpa, FSE, was raised in Pocatello, ID and completed a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology at Carroll College in Helena, MT. While attending pharmacy school at Idaho State University in Pocatello, she entered with the Franciscan Sisters of the Eucharist.

Sister Michaela professed Perpetual Vows in 2017 and worked as a clinical pharmacist and pharmacy supervisor at the Hospital of St. Raphael and Yale-New Haven Hospital, New Haven for 12 years. She completed a Master’s degree in Theology, Bioethics from Holy Apostles College and Seminary, Cromwell, CT, and achieved Bioethics certification with the National Catholic Bioethics Center.

Sister Michaela currently serves as an Associate Professor of Pharmacy at High Point University in High Point, NC teaching both clinical subjects as well as pharmacy law and ethics.
