Dr. Jem Sullivan
Dr. Jem Sullivan, Ph.D., is associate professor in the School of Theology and Religious Studies at The Catholic University of America, Washington, DC. Dr. Sullivan was appointed to serve as a member of the International Council for Catechesis under the auspices of the Vatican Dicastery for Evangelization, Rome. For three decades, she has served in Catholic education at the secondary, undergraduate, graduate and seminary levels. Her research and publications focus on liturgical formation and the place of beauty and the arts in education, liturgy, and evangelization. Dr. Sullivan has served numerous initiatives at the national and diocesan levels, including lead staff to the Subcommittee on the Catechism of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops.
Jem is the author of several books including Believe, Celebrate, Live, Pray: A Weekly Walk with the Catechism of the Catholic Church; A Study Guide to the United States Catholic Catechism for Adults; The Beauty of Faith: Art and the New Evangelization; and Opening the Door of Faith: A Study Guide for Catechists in the New Evangelization. Her most recent book, Way of Beauty: Rekindling Eucharistic Amazement through Visio Divina was written to support the National Eucharistic Revival in the US. Jem has hosted two television documentaries on the arts in the life of the Church including The Way of Beauty on London’s Saint Dominic’s Church, also known as the Rosary Shrine.
